Thank You's:
I will NEVER be able thank enough the people who helped us directly and indirectly during COVID. I can't even achieve a complete list of the people who helped in Bird's Eye Medical. But please accept this as a start, and let me know who I should add. I am not including most of the people I mentioned in the book, either in the body of the book, or the thank-you section at the end.
Jennifer Lee Bunge (my wife of >30 years). Did I mention over 30 years? She deserves infinite thanks for that alone! But looking back, I did not thank her enough in the book for all the amazing work she did to care for me, others, and the company during COVID. A short list includes:
-caring for our kids as they came back here and there during COVID
-finance manager for the company, with hours and hours and hours of work
-supporting me but also re-directing me without giving up on me
-supporting me through book-writing, a process I told her would take 6 mo but really took 3 years of part time work
Deidre Dillon. Clinical Program Manager--Research, Providence SW Washington. Was the cornerstone of the monoclonal antibody program at St Peters. Endlessly advocated and sustained this program to help hundreds.
Kelsey Davis. What an amazing medical biller! Most of what we did with Bird's Eye Medical was under contract with the counties and the state. But we still did things on our own, and sometimes we billed insurance when it was possible and didn't block people from getting care. Kelsey was infinitely patient as we told her "we will bill this," and "no we won't" over and over and over, as we had to guess what we were going to do and who may or may not pay for it. She made the billing work at our testing site in Olympia, so that we could sustain it there through then end of 2022.
Tara Dehart. Nurse at NW Pediatrics who was very helpful with coordinating vaccines and assisting us in storage and management.
